South African racer Sisa Ngebulana will return to HHC Motorsport, the team with which he contested the 2015 main championship, for the upcoming Duo BRDC Formula 4 Autumn Trophy. The 17-year-old impressed in his rookie season in the series, finishing 11th in the overall standings, and claimed a best finish of second with a strong drive in the wet at Silverstone.
Ngebulana, who hails from Fourways near Johannesburg, showed good pace in his first year of BRDC Formula 4 and was a regular finisher in the top-10 throughout. In addition to his runner-up finish, he added another top-five finish in the first race of that weekend in Northamptonshire before closing the year with a subsequent fifth place in the final meeting of the year on the Indy Circuit at Brands Hatch.
Prior to joining the BRDC Formula 4 Championship, Ngebulana enjoyed a successful karting career in his native South Africa, despite being a latecomer to motorsport. Competing for just two and a half seasons before graduating to single-seaters, Ngebulana achieved strong results including finishing fifth in the South African National Championship before earning a call-up to represent his country at the 2014 Rok Cup International Final, held in Italy.
Ngebulana said: “The 2015 Autumn Trophy will be a continuation of my learning year, and of course it’s a new car which I’m excited to be in. I am delighted to re-sign with HHC for the 2016 season, and I’m looking forward to be racing amongst some very good drivers in the Autumn Trophy, where I will use the time to learn the new car. In addition, the aim for 2016 is to take it to the championship fight, which is ultimately what I want to achieve.”
The 2015 Duo BRDC Formula 4 Autumn Trophy features eight races and will see the race debut of the all new, more powerful Tatuus-Cosworth car. The first four races of the Autumn Trophy will take place at Snetterton on November 7/8 before the final round is held one week later, on the Indy Circuit at Brands Hatch on November 14/15.
