Thompson takes Race 1 at Snetterton

James Thompson  won the first of Sunday’s three Green Flag British Touring Car rounds at Snetterton, Norfolk – a result that moves him into the championship lead.

Thompson led all the way from pole position and set the race’s fastest lap to achieve a maximum score. Heading into the second of Sunday's three rounds, Thompson has moved nine points ahead of Muller.

Muller finished the race fifth after starting second on the grid. Taking second was highest-placed Harrier Zeuros Independents Trophy runner Matt Neal, in Computeach Racing with Halfords’ Honda.

Team Honda’s Tom Chilton finished the race third with WSR MG driver Colin Turkington also overtaking Muller for fourth.

Finishing tenth to secure pole position for the start of the second race - thanks to the top ten reversed grid rule - was Vauxhall's Luke Hines.
