Superfund Euro 3000

INTERVIEW WITH FABRIZIO DEL MONTE BEFORE DIJON

The Superfund Euro 3000 series has two very importantback to back rounds coming up.  The seventh and eighth round will be on September 12 in Dijon and on September 19 in Zolder, respectivelyand these two races will probably determine who will claim the title. At the moment Fabrizio Del Monte is in the lead with a nine point advantage over Pastorelli.

How did you prepare yourself for this double event?

A usual I prepared myself to be 100% physically at thetop and together with the team ,we worked onoptimising the braking system. These two back to backraces will be very demanding  and we have to give ourbest because both Dijon and Zolder can be crucial forthe championship.

A championship that at the moment has you in thelead..

That’s correct but I can’t put my guard down. We had 3great victories at the beginning of the seasonfollowed by 2 other well deserved podiums. Then camethe first blow in Monza. I had to retire after beinghit and for having a bend suspension.  Now it is timeto get back to winning precious points again.

Who are the adversaries that you fear the most?

Pastorelli is right behind me and he will do anythingto win the next races. Auinger is also proving to bevery good and he’s fighting for the championship aswell. Whatever the case, the drivers in the SuperfundEuro 3000 Series are high quality drivers and soanyone can be a threat.

Are you planning a particular tactic for Dijon?

We are surely not going to France to only protect anddefend our position .We are going to Dijon to do ourbest and win. Monza has taught me that those who startin the front row don’t get involved in as manyaccidents as those who start from behind. So we willpush hard during the qualifying session.  Myadversaries have grown in the last few weeks and theywill put up a great battle.  Getting a good result inDijon  and Zolder will also be importantpsychologically.
