NEWCASTLE and Redcar have finally reached agreement over the transfer of Czech Republic rider Matej Kus.The 26-year-old now completes the Diamonds’ line-up after a fee was agreed with the Bears, which removes the need for the move to go to arbitration.Newcastle co-promoter Alan Hedley said: “Kus is a superb talent and we believe he can definitely improve on the average that he arrives on. I would be very surprised if he doesn’t add at least a point on his average by the end of the season.“We have a really strong team this year and I am expecting big things from them, we have a balanced side which can perform away from home so it should be an exciting season for everyone at Newcastle.”

SHEFFIELD have revealed a new team management structure featuring the vastly-experienced Eric Boocock alongside Marc Bates.Former national boss Boocock rejoins the Tigers, whose 2015 manager Jack Lee is set to take on a role with the younger ridersCo-promoter Damien Bates said: “The way we are planning to do it is Eric will take care of home meetings with Marc’s assistance, then Marc will take charge of away meetings with Eric’s assistance.“It’s very hard to get somebody to commit to the team manager role who can make it to every meeting, so this just makes perfect sense. They will both work together but if one of them is missing then we have somebody else to drop in and keep the continuity.”

POOLE and Plymouth racer Kyle Newman has given the thumbs-up to Great Britain’s weekend training camp in Croatia.Newman was one of several riders with international aspirations to be involved in GB’s first organised pre-season session at Gorican, where track-time was combined with fitness work and nutrition advice.Newman said: “It's always good to get some productive practice sessions in before the season starts, but I haven't experienced anything like this before.“Credit has to go to Alun Rossiter and the BSPA for setting up this weekend. All the boys learnt a lot from the experience and I also have to thank Oliver Allen as well, he had some excellent words of advice for everyone.“Away from the track I have to say Paul Suggitt (fitness professional) was full of great advice about fitness and nutrition that can help us be at our best through a long season. I learned a lot and it's definitely advice I'll take with me throughout the season.“Rosco was keen to get across his ideas for the future of the national side which I think all of the guys were excited by. There are a lot of us on the fringes of the World Cup set-up but all of us have the same goal, to race well enough to at least be in Rosco's thoughts when he has to make his selection.”(SPEEDWAY 6)

SIMON Stead will take his first laps back at Sheffield this Thursday – and he can’t wait. The Tigers skipper has returned to the saddle after suffering horrific multiple injuries almost a year ago, and he’s come through with no ill-effects after teaming up with British youngsters in France. Stead said: “It was such a great feeling to get back on track and get some laps under my belt. When you've been out injured for as long as I have, the first time back on a bike is always quite daunting but I felt good.“Your main concern is that you're always going to feel a bit of strain on wherever you got injured but I didn't have any twinges at all.“Since I got back, I've spent a couple more mornings in the gym to continue boosting my fitness levels, I'm feeling really good right now and I can't wait to get together with the team at Press and Practice.”
