Motorbase takes runner-up in Carrera Cup
Motorbase Performance wrapped up its first season with a debut race win and second in the teams' championship in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in the final race of the season at Donington Park on Sunday (26 September). The team was created by former racer David Bartrum to field a pair of 911GT3 Cup cars in the colours of SAS International for Andy and Gary Britnell. The squad grew to three cars mid-season with the addition of a car for Damien Faulkner and it was the Irish racer who scored the team's debut race win in the final Carrera Cup race of the season at Donington. The team had expanded to a four-car operation for Donington as David Pinkney joined Motorbase. The Donington race win also confirmed second place for the team in the Carrera Cup GB teams' championship, after a season-long battle with Team RPM and Team VLR. The team title had been won at the previous round by Red Line Racing."I'm delighted," said Bartrum as he reflected on the team's first season. "To come in new from scratch and finish runner-up to a good team like Red Line Racing is a great result. The race win at Donington was the icing on the cake," added Bartrum. "The guys in the team have all worked very hard and we will now have a little team celebration to mark our first season!"The Kent-based team is already in discussions over the 2005 season and plans to field up to four cars in the Carrera Cup.
