In European Truck Championship !
Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon, president of Racing Engineering, will race at the Spanish round of the European Truck Championship taking place on the 2nd and 3rd of October at the circuit of Jarama. After racing in many different categories, this will be Alfonso de Orleans Borbon’s first participation in a truck race although trucks themselves are nothing new for Racing Engineering’s active boss.
It was earlier this year that Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon sat in a rally car with current Spanish Formula 3 championship leader Borja Garcia at the Rally of Atogo in Teneriffe. He also participated twice as a co-pilot in the Rally Paris-Dakar, but after racing many years in GT Endurance races, several participations at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the International Sportscar Racing Series, Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon put all his energy into his racing team “Racing Engineering”, where his racing activity is limited to some tests of the team’s race cars.
With all the different categories there was always one missing: - truck racing. Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon will race the number 4 truck of the “Truck Race Team Allgäuer”, a 5500kg MAN TG 410 A. This truck is supplied with Sachs suspensions and clutch, a ZF 16 S 221 gearbox and has around 1000hp and 5000Nm torque. He is very good friends with the team owner and 2002 European Champion and 2001 and 2003 European Vice-Champion, Egon Allgäuer, and is very happy to get the opportunity to climb onto the race truck of this prestigious team.
Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon, who always loved trucks and at the beginning of the history of Racing Engineering drove the team trucks to the tracks by himself, stated, “I am really excited! I don’t know what the results will look like, but I am sure that we will have fun this weekend. I am not here to win, I am here to see what I am capable of in a truck race.”
