Hot laps from TV star Ant Anstead, a guest appearance from former BMC Works Motorsport Manager Stuart Turner and a stunning concours competition were just some of the highlights of MiniWorld Live, which took place at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby, Northants last weekend.

With great attendance and a wealth of stunning cars on display, Ant Anstead thrilled the assembled crowds by taking part in a Mini drag race against the clock, as well as leading the club parade around the circuit and judging the event’s bake-off, with a series of Mini-themed cakes.

He also presented the concours awards, with a total of nine winners. The award for best classic Mini went to Paul Preston, with Julia Robinson taking the honours for the best new MINI. Class winners were Sandra Britton (classic Mini 1959-2001 non-modified), Paul Dawson (classic Mini 1959-2001 modified), Stuart Underwood (Classic Mini Commercial, 1959-2001), Steve Neath (Other Mini and Mini variants), Roger Algar (new MINI, non-modified), Julia Robinson (new MINI modified) and Mark Herbert (new MINI JCW/GP).

The best club award went to the Milton Keynes Mini Owners Club, the best wheels award was won by Matt Collins and the Mini bake-off winner was Jessica Benniston.

As well as the bake-off, another food-themed attraction was a special cake created to mark the 25th birthday of MiniWorld magazine, which was sold for 50p a slice to raise funds for the Italian Job charity, which raises funds for children. Along with the MiniWorld Engine Diagnostics Bay, hosted by MiniWorld magazine’s technical writer, AC Dodd, in conjunction with Andy Davies of ML Motorsport, the two attractions raised almost £200 on the day.

Club stands were a major draw, with one notable display being the MINI Y-register, set up for owners of new MINI models from the car’s launch year of 2001. They were celebrating the model’s 15th birthday at the show.

MiniWorld Live looks set to be even bigger and better for 2017. More details, along with some of the highlights of the 2016 event, can be found at www.miniworldlive.co.uk
