Yokohama unique Tyre Supplier for 2016 Sepang 12 Hours

SRO has announced that Yokohama will be the unique tyre supplier for the 2016 edition of the Sepang 12 Hours. Yokohama is well-established in GT Racing in Asia, as seen last year when the Yokohama-shod Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi claimed victory in the first edition of the Sepang 12 Hours.

Yokohama will supply tyres to all classes, starting with the GT3 machinery, through GTC, GT4/Sport Production, Touring Production and the newly named TC class. In addition, we are pleased to announce that Marc Cars from Australia will be eligible to take part this year.

Following on from the Total 24 Hours of SPA, the Sepang 12 hours will be the final round of the 2016 Intercontinental GT Challenge. Manufacturers such as Audi, Bentley, McLaren and Mercedes will enter teams to defend their respective brands, all battling to win the prestigious Cup. Drivers registered in the Intercontinental Drivers Cup will also be fighting to win the Drivers’ title.

Masataka Yamaishi (President of Yokohama Motorsports International Co., Ltd.): "It is a great honour for Yokohama to be selected as the official tyre supplier for the first year of the new single tyre brand system in the Sepang 12 Hours. We are confident that we can provide high-quality tyres and race services, taking advantage of our past experiences. Thank you very much to Sepang International Circuit, SRO Motorsports Group and all of the teams."

Stephane Ratel (Founder and CEO SRO Motorsports Group): "The appointment of Yokohama as a single tyre supplier is proof that the interest in our new Intercontinental GT Challenge is ever increasing. Furthermore, this gives all the teams the opportunity to compete on equal terms, which will certainly lead to an exciting edition of the Sepang 12 Hours."

Benjamin Franassovici (Sepang 12 Hours Manager): "I am very pleased to confirm that on top of the manufacturers entered as part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, most participants from last year will return. Besides that, new entries will be taking part in the 2016 edition. Each class will be well represented, with a firm interest in GT4, which is looking to grow in Asia next season. With an already extensive TV distribution list, both LIVE and delayed, further announcements will be made."
