Michael Dunlop Regains Solo Championship at Southern 100

Michael Dunlop secured his third Southern 100 Solo Championship title in dominating form at the International Southern 100 Road Races run on the Billown Course, round 14 of the Duke Road Race Rankings 2016.

Riding the Hawk BMW, the Ballymoney rider also won the three other 1000cc races during the 61st running of 'the friendly races'.

Michael, current Duke Champion, now moves into third place in the rankings,

341 points behind leader Dean Harrison, who took the chequered flag in both 600cc races and finished second in the prestigious Solo Championship race.

Ivan Lintin, maintains second place, as he too collected a pair of wins in the Supertwins events, along with a second and third in the Superbikes, a second and fourth in the 600's and third in the Championship race. He now joins the 1000 point + club, and is just 111 points behind the series leader.

Jamie Coward climbs six positions from 10th to fourth as close rival James Cowton moves up two from ninth to seventh.

Darryl Tweed took the opening 400cc race in his debut race at Billown and finished second in the second race, after a race long battle with Seamus Elliott. Both come from Ballymoney and Seamus moves to 12th from 30th, whilst Darryl advances 32 spots from 53rd to 21st!

Rounds 15 & 16 take place over the next two weekends, firstly the action returns for the third time to Oliver's Mount, Scarborough for the Barry Sheene Road Race Festival on Saturday and Sunday 23rd & 24th July, before travelling across the Irish Sea for the Armoy 'Race of Legends' Road Races on Friday and Saturday 29th & 30th July.
