Ravenol Formula Vee Championship

Alex Jones, endured a character-building outing in Rounds 7 and 8 of the Ravenol Formula Vee Championship at Anglesey last weekend.

Despite a strong showing in the last round at Croft, the 23 year-old wasn't given a chance to carry through his promising momentum when his power unit blew on his opening flying lap in qualifying.

Forced to start from the back of the grid in Race 1, Jones made a flying start, getting passed no fewer than 8 cars before getting caught up in a first lap incident, leaving him with no option but to retire the car and end his weekend.

Alex Jones:"It's been a disappointing weekend and it just goes to show that you can never tell what hand you're going to be dealt in motorsport but this has been another learning experience which I can draw positives from and use to improve.

"We never really got an opportunity to gauge our true pace so we'll regroup, put this weekend behind us and do our best to get back out for Silverstone next month.

"On the flip side, I was fortunate enough to have been given the chance to join Ian Snowman in the commentary box for Race 2 on Sunday. Of course I would have rather been out racing but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I'd like to say thank you to Ian for allowing me to join him and try something a bit different to what I'm used to!"
