GT Cup Oulton Frustration for CRH Racing

CRH Racing and Jonathan Evans returned to GT Cup action at Oulton Park on Saturday (July 23rd), with Jonathan denied a class win in the endurance race by a puncture when leading handily. With the first race of the day having been stopped due to an early incident and then cancelled, it was a frustrating day for the team but again one where they showed their series rivals their pace.“We spent some time on Saturday to look at the videos of when we tested and talked through them and we put in a good qualifying lap,” said Jonathan. “We were every pleased to be second quickest in class and sixth overall.“I was pretty confident for the first race but coming out the first corner there was a big crash and we ended up having the race stopped. We were sat on the grid for about 25-minutes and then the decision was made that we weren’t going to race.“In the second race later in the day I was doing both parts of the race, we made a good start and the the pit-stop went well, and was running first in class and third over all. Then with ten minutes to go I turned into Old Hall – the first corner – and the back end of the car came round really quickly as we had a rear puncture. We went across the grass but managed to stop just a foot away from the barriers, which was frustrating as we had a good class lead.“The car felt really good, well balanced, and we are there or there abouts but somehow today it was not meant to be.”Next GT Cup Races: Donington Park, East Midlands, August 13th/14th
