Alain Menus first Chevrolet drive

GENERAL MOTORS ARGENTINA USES NEW CHEVROLET WTCC DRIVER ALAIN MENU TO HELP CONSOLIDATE ITS LEAD IN THE  ‘TC 2000’ CHAMPIONSHIP

On 31 October, new Chevrolet World Touring Car driver Alain Menu will support local hero Christian Ledesma in a Chevrolet Astra during the 200 kilometre ‘TC 2000’ race in Buenos Aires. Ledesma is currently leading the ‘TC2000’ touring car championship in Argentina.“Chevrolet Europe is very pleased to record how well Alain Menu’s involvement with our 2005 WTCC programme has been received within the entire GM and Chevrolet family. It is a great example of what can be achieved in terms of synergies when you are part of the global GM brand,” said Eric Nève, manager responsible for the racing programme within Chevrolet Europe. “I am sure that moving forward, we will also see examples of leveraging from strengths in areas other than motor racing, such as engineering and product,” added Nève.

Alain Menu said: “It’s a great opportunity for me to sit again at the wheel of a competitive front wheel drive car running with the same type of specifications as the former BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) cars with which I won my two championship titles. For my first race in a Chevrolet, I will do my very best to help my team mate Christian Ledesma to consolidate his lead in the Argentinian ‘TC 2000’ championship. I can’t wait to start testing the 2005 WTCC Chevrolet, but this opportunity to race for General Motors Argentina gives me already a great feeling of being well integrated in the global Chevrolet entity.”
