Round 4: Santa Pod Raceway, 30-31 July

Philip Englefield defeated Michel Tooren in the final at Santa Pod, pressuring the Dutch rookie to launch too soon and earn red-light disqualification.

Before that point, Tooren had dominated, qualifying on pole and setting low elapsed time and top speed of the event, both personal-best performances. Englefield also set new personal bests and achieved notable consistency with 6.2sec/220mph clockings on each of his five passes during the weekend.

Points leader Andy Robinson lost a crucial semi-final match to Tooren when he shook and crossed the centre line, narrowly avoiding contact with the far wall. Roger Moore and Mick Payne also achieved personal bests during the event.
