AMG Team HTP Motorsport heads into Sprint-Race at Budapest as Championship Leaders

Second-to-last race of the Blancpain GT Sprint CupAMG-Team HTP Motorsport to start with three Mercedes-AMG GT3The second-to-last round of the Blancpain GT Sprint Cup will take place for the first time at Budapest (Hungary) at the coming weekend. The AMG-Team HTP Motorsport will head into the weekend as Championship Leaders, competing with three Mercedes-AMG GT3 on the 4.3 kilometre-long track.

Alongside reigning Sprint-Champion Maximilian Buhk, who will go hunting for points with his Austrian team-mate Dominik Baumann in the #84 Mercedes-AMG GT3, fellow Austrian Clemens Schmid will race the #85 sister car with Malaysian Jazeman Jaafar. Jules Szymkowiak (NDL) competes with routinier Bernd Schneider (GER) in the #85 Mercedes-AMG GT3. Thank to their victory at Brands Hatch and constant point finishes, Symkowiak and Schneider are only nine points behind the leaders in third place.

The team based in Altendiez will set their eyes on as many points as possible to extend their lead of five points in the Sprint ranking. The AMG-Team HTP Motorsport is currently running in second place in the overall standings with eight points behind the leaders.

„Everything can happen in the championship, for both the team and the drivers“, says Norbert Brückner, Team Principal AMG-Team HTP Motorsport. „All our drivers on the three Mercedes-AMG GT3 have done a fantastic job all season and that´s the reason for our good position. Budapest will be an interesting weekend. The heat in August will play a role, but we are excited to race on this new addition in the calendar.“

The weekend will start with free practice sessions on Friday, followed by qualifying at 11:45 am on Saturday and the Qualification race at 5:15pm. The main race takes place on Sunday from 12:30pm until 1:30 pm.
