Carrera Cup season celebrated
The Porsche Carrera Cup GB season was celebrated in style on Saturday (16 October) when over 200 drivers, teams and their guests attended the annual Awards Dinner at the De Vere Carden Park near Chester.Richard Westbrook collected the major award of the evening when he was handed the keys to a £55,000 road-going Porsche 911 Carrera as awards totaling more than £85,000 were presented."This has been just the best championship I've ever contested," said Westbrook. He paid tribute to the work of Red Line Racing and also acknowledged the tremendous sportsmanship of his title rival, Tim Harvey. "When I won the championship in the final race at Donington, Tim was the first person to come and congratulate me. I really respect him for that."Harvey picked up a cheque for £6000 as championship runner-up, while Jason Templeman, Jonathan Fildes, Nigel Rice and Andy Britnell all took away substantial cheques for top six placings in the final points' table.Red Line Racing boss Simon Leonard collected the team championship award and a cheque for £8000 in the process, while Motorbase Performance and Team RPM were presented with £5000 and £3500 respectively for finishing second and third.
