Christo 2nd in Italian Industrials

Riki Christodoulou has captured 2nd position overall in the mini Italian ‘Industrials’ series with 5th place in the second and final round Sunday at the Parma circuit.

Making only his third appearance in the Formula A category, sixteen year old ‘Christo’ wasn’t able to match the 3rd spot he scored last week at the same track but his combined results was enough to mount the podium and enjoy some excellent prizes from this first class competition.

Riki misjudged his qualification session and left himself without enough time to post a rapid time with a clear lap, eventually recording the 6th fastest circulation. An engine problem rolling up to the grid curtailed the first heat before it had even begun while a determined charge from the back in the second outing only produced a 14th position finish.

Christo faced steep odds starting from the rear of the pack for the final main event but an outstanding flight from 20th to his final placing of 5th rescued what had so far been a dismal meeting. The performance was worthy of a rostrum as the SHIFT Racing backed driver again beat his British rivals Jon Lancaster and Freddie Martin-Dye.

Team Christodoulou now have a few weeks break before contesting the Winter Super Libre series in November (7th at PF) and December (5th at Shenington). Riki also intends to announce his racing plans for ’05 after the race at PF.
