Round 6: Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally, 10 September

Jock Armstrong secured his second consecutive MSA Scottish Rally Championship title on the Galloway Hills Rally.

Garry Pearson and Armstrong headed into the event three points apart in Pearson’s favour, and the battle lived up to the hype with the pair being separated by just seven seconds after the first batch of stages.

Armstrong held the lead going into the final stage but second for Pearson would be enough for him to win his first ever SRC title. Cruelly for Pearson and co-driver Robbie Mitchell, the engine manifold in their Fiesta broke and melted the rocker cover.

Co-driven by Paula Swinscoe, Armstrong was left unchallenged at the top of the leaderboard to take his eighth win on the Galloway Hills Rally and his second consecutive Scottish title.
