Jake Parsons heads to Japan for Asia Series Lamborghini Challenge

Australian Jake Parsons is excited be heading to Fuji International Speedway this weekend to race in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Series.

The drive, part of his prize for being runner-up in the 2015 Formula Masters China Series, will be the 21-year-old’s first race in Japan, a country he loves.

Parsons, who last weekend wrapped up his maiden Pro Mazda Championship in the US, is always keen to extend his driving experience.

Although he has previously driven an Audi R8 LMS Cup event in Korea, the two 50 minute races will be the longest he has contested and the first with pit stops for driver changes.

Parsons won the 2014 AsiaCup Championship before finishing second in Formula Masters China in 2015 and this year has been competing in Pro Mazda as part of the Mazda Road to Indy program in support of the Verizon IndyCar Series.

He finished his maiden American Championship in sixth position and recorded two podium results, including one at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in May.

This weekend, Parsons will be joining fellow Australian Aidan Wright, who he raced alongside in go-karts back in 2010.

“I can’t wait for the event”, said Parsons. “I’m eager to learn as much as I can and continue to hone my GT skills. I’m sure it will open more doors for the future too.”

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia final round takes place at Fuji International Speedway this weekend 17-18 September.
