HIGGINS HAS TESTING TIME AHEADKwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Champion front runner David Higgins will return to China for the next round in the Chinese series going for a hat trick of rally wins as he contests the China Rally Shaoguan on 23rd - 24th October. The rally is also a round of the FIA Asia Pacific Championship and will provide some tough opposition for the Mid Wales driver in the form of Malaysia driver, Karamjit Singh and Germany's Armin Kremer. Both drivers battling for the Asia Pacific title.
Having taken two wins so far in the Chinese National calendar, the Trefeglwys rally driver will be looking for his third win at the wheel of a Ralliart KST Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII with Daniel Barritt alongside to point them in the right direction.
The British pair have been very impressed with the China rally series, with the support given and the sheer volume of spectators attending the rallies and now relish the chance to compete on this event.
"The rally will be very difficult rally for us as the car is not full international specification although the MEM team build one of the best group N cars so I hope they can give us a real chance of a top result against some good drivers."
The Chinese excursion marks the start of a busy few weeks for Higgins, as he starts a two week test with the Mitsubishi World Rally Championship Team on his return from China, which leads right up to the final round of the Kwik Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship, the Tempest rally.
"I hope doing this rally will get me in the right frame of mind ready for the Tempest, plus three weeks of driving should have me more than ready for the last rally in the championship. We still have the normal problems of getting the budget together but with the help from John Lloyd and Mick O'Brien Plant Hire we are more than half way there. I cannot thank everyone enough who has helped throughout the year, as these people have kept me in the BRC this year and on target to win the title."
The final round of the British Series takes place on 5th/6th November, with a nail biting finale to the series which it has lacked over the last few years with David keen to take the Championship crown, having been deprived on the Trackrod through an accident whilst leading the rally.
