MSA British Drag Racing Championship

Round 6: Santa Pod Raceway, 24-25 September

Andy Robinson is the 2016 MSA British Drag Racing Champion, for the fifth time. Kevin Slyfield won the race, earning a final-round walkover after Philip Englefield withdrew.

Englefield had beaten Robinson in the semi-final but had exploded his fuel tank in a bizarre finish-line incident. A final-round win for Englefield would have secured him the championship. En route to eventual victory, Slyfield set fresh elapsed-time personal bests on four of his five passes.

Tyre-shake thwarted the third championship contender, Michel Tooren. A performance star all season, Tooren failed to qualify, missing Saturday’s cut by just 0.007 seconds.
