An impressive performance at this years Spa 24Hours led to the teams decision to partner Michael with Chris for thefinal event. The No. 7 Saleen will feature the regular line-up of MikeNewton and Tommy Erdos.
Round 7 of the championship at Spa was also Michael's debut in the RMLSaleen and a gradual improvement in lap times during the practice andqualifying sessions soon transformed into an outstanding race start wherehe gained six places on the first lap. Consistently climbing through thefield during his stint Michael had climbed to an impressive 5th positionat his first pit stop from 18th position on the grid. His debut wascurtailed however when an oil pump problem forced the team to retire thecar four hours into the race.
Michael's other recent experience of GT racing includes podiums in lastyear's (2003) British GT Championship and FIA Sportscar entries in 2001/2.Back in 2000, he became the third generation Mallock to win a championshipdriving in a car bearing the family name when he secured the NationalSuperSports Championship in the RML Mallock P20. At just 17 he was by farthe youngest to have achieved this, his father Ray, and uncle, Richard,both winning the same championship in Mallock cars when they were aged 21.
