The three single international championships - Europe, Asia and North America – touch the three key markets of Automobili Lamborghini and enable professional drivers and gentlemen drivers to race on the most famous and fascinating tracks of the world.With the new Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East, the Motorsport department, Lamborghini Squadra Corse, is adding a new important piece to its expansion plan, by exporting the same winning format of the three consolidated continental series to a market as important as that of Middle East. “We are proud to announce the birth of this new championship – said Giorgio Sanna, head of Motorsport of Automobili Lamborghini - in a strategic market for our brand, to consolidate a strategy in Customer Racing, thanks to which we are enjoying considerable appreciation in the racing world, as witnessed by the record numbers generated by our one-make series.”The fourth international series of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo also aims at offering a further opportunity to all European, Asian and North American customer teams to get ready for the beginning of their respective racing seasons, thus using these races as an important test bench.The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East will consist of three double rounds and will be held between February and March 2017, before the start of the European, Asian and North American racing seasons. The first event is scheduled at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi (February 9-11), the second at the Dubai Autodrome (February 16-18) and the third and last one will take place again in Dubai (March 2-4), but with a different track layout.The race format will be the same as the other championships: two one-hour free practice sessions, two twenty-minute qualifying sessions and two fifty-minute races with rolling start. The series is open only to Huracán Super Trofeos and to Pro, Pro-Am, Am and Lamborghini Cup driver classes. Furthermore, drivers will be categorized according to FIA regulations (based on the classes Bronze, Silver and Gold used in the various GT championships) and for the Pro and Pro-Am classes, it will be mandatory to race in crews formed by two drivers, these regulations will also be introduced in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe from 2017.As it already happens in the continental series, Lamborghini Squadra Corse will provide its support to teams and will take care of logistics, by shipping and handling cars to the United Arab Emirates for each of the three events of the series.
