Following the success of this year’s relaunched MSA British Kart and Junior Kart Championships, the MSA has agreed a two-year extension of the Vortex (OTK) engine supply contract.

This means that Vortex (OTK) will supply the CIK-homologated DDJ engine for the MSA British Junior Kart Championship (CIK OKJ class) and the DDS engine (also CIK-homologated) will continue to be used in the MSA British Senior Kart Championship (CIK OK class) until the end of the 2018 season.

Once again, there will be a special prize for the MSA British Junior and Senior Kart Champions: works drives with a Vortex team (Tonykart Racing Team or Kosmic Racing Department) in the 2017 CIK-FIA World Championships. This will be fully funded by OTK, including race entry, race material, mechanic, flights, accommodation and subsistence.

Moreover, these classes will also be adopted in the UK at club level. The engines used at this level will be the same but with differences relating to the senior class weight and tyres.

Rob Jones, MSA Chief Executive, said: “We have been delighted with the impact of the MSA British Kart Championships in 2016, especially considering the Junior title returned after a three-year absence. Part of this success is directly attributable to the fantastic Vortex (OTK) package and so we are pleased that UK karting will continue to benefit from this new relationship for at least a further two years.”

Roberto Robazzi, OTK Kart Group President, said “Vortex is glad to be the engine sole supplier for the OKJ and OK British Kart Championship until 2018. Through our Official Importer, Strawberry Racing, we will give the best service possible to the UK market and will provide great support the British Championships.”

The class regulations detailing the age and licence criteria, engine package price, and tyres will be made available at www.msauk.org/karttech by the end of November 2016.
