Double podium for Romeo Ferraris in Abu Dhabi

The positive trend for Romeo Ferraris and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR continues. In the second round of the TCR Middle East 2017 series, scheduled at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit, the Lombardy-based engineering, which provides technical assistance to Mulsanne Racing, has clinched second position in both races, on top of a first-row qualifying. Following the podium conquered by Michela Cerruti in Dubai, the Italian car was in the hands of Davit Kajaia, the 33-year-old Georgian driver, who has increased the podium finishes toll of the squad to three in four races.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta showed excellent pace since free practice, held in a magical night atmosphere on the prestigious track that usually hosts the F.1 Grand Prix. The good performance was confirmed in qualifying, where the Alfa finished second behind the Honda. Thanks to an excellent start, Kajaia took the initial lead in Race 1, managing to resist to the attacks of Files up to the ninth lap, when the Briton managed to pass and fly to victory. In Race 2, held on Saturday as per local tradition, Kajaia charged from his sixth position in the reversed grid to take again second.

Claudio Bortoletto, Team Manager“We are very happy of the competitiveness level we have reached. As demonstrated in the last races of the past season, our car is in constant progress and is proving all its potential. Michela, who was here in Abu Dhabi to provide all her knowledge about the car gathered during her development work with the car, took a podium in Dubai, and here, Davit, a new recruit to the team, has further shown the qualities of the car, making us proud. The challenge is not over and now we want to shine next month in the closing event of the Middle East at Bahrain, precisely the track where the journey with this car started one year ago”.
