KING’S Lynn’s big winter signing Chris Holder raced to a stunning win in the Darcy Ward Cup at North Brisbane.Holder, the 2012 world champion, only dropped a point in his five qualifying rides to lead the field going into the semi-final.But when he lined up in the final he failed to make the gate and was forced to work his way through the field with a brilliant move to beat Rohan Tungate, Speedway Grand Prix legend Jason Crump and Max Fricke.Said Holder: “It was a great meeting and Darcy and I had a lot of fun.“It’s so cool for me to win it. The final was hard because I didn’t quite make the start but I managed to come good and make my move.“I’m so proud to win it for Darcy, I love that guy and it was a pleasure to be here.”

BUXTON have completed their line-up with the signing of Ellis Perks – who will now be racing in all three domestic leagues this season.Perks, who helped Eastbourne to the National League Grand Final last year, will combine his duties for the Hitmen with higher-league commitments for Rye House and Redcar.Buxton boss Jason Pipe said: “Ellis has to put his Premiership and Championship duties first and if things are getting too much for him during the season, then we have an agreement in place that he'll be honest with me and let me know if it is getting too much and we'd then look at releasing him from his NL duties. “But at the moment neither of us are looking at that and it's hoped he will come in and it will all work out and he'll enjoy racing for the Hitmen, which I know he's really looking forward to doing.“This is a team now that can have a great season. It's one of the strongest sides that Buxton have had in a while and I can now imagine that no club will be looking forward to coming to us to race this team!”
