BACK-TO-BACK CATALUNYA AFTER THE EMOTIONAL MUGELLO
Team SUZUKI ECSTAR is already heading to Spain for the Catalonian GP, next Sunday, June 11th.
Andrea Iannone and Sylvain Guintoli are approaching the upcoming GP with renewed enthusiasm, after the positive race they both had in Italy. With no rest between the two races, the emotional charge is still palpable as is their will to tap into the improvements identified in Italy in the bike configuration.
The Italian GP gave the riders and the engineers the feedback needed to proceed with the bike´s development. Further exploration and research will be carried out in Montmelo throughout two days of testing, on the Monday and Tuesday after the race at the Catalonian circuit.
The Circuito de Cataluña in Montmelo, Spain, is one of the most historic circuits in the Championship. Opened in 1991, it started to host the Catalonian GP in 1995. It has high-velocity corners that will test the stability and precision capabilities of the chassis and set-up. Correspondingly, it will be demanding on the tyres. With five left-hand corners and eight right-hand corners, it measures 4.7km (2.94 miles) and its longest straight is 1047mt (3435.04 ft.).

“Barcelona is a circuit I´m fond of, and in addition could suit our GSX-RR’s characteristics. It’s a fast circuit with high cornering speeds, thrilling to ride. I’m eager to see how competitive we are able to be. In Mugello we made some improvements and I felt more confident. We will also test in Barcelona after the race; we will try out the improvements and I’m curious to see how they turn out. We are getting stronger and stronger and I´m hoping for a positive race in Cataluña.”

"Riding the Suzuki GSX-RR in Mugello was a very special feeling. The massive top speed and rapid corners are unbelievable on this track! In the end we managed to engage our competitors in the race and gain position. This was a delight, but also a sign of better understanding of the bike and the tyres for me. Barcelona will be another challenge where I hope to continue in my "Suzuki MotoGP"
