MSA Championships Update


Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship Rounds 13-15: Croft Circuit, 10-11 June

Ashley Sutton, Colin Turkington and Mat Jackson shared the victories at Croft Circuit.

Sutton held off two-time champion and ‘King of Croft’ Turkington to win the opening race at the North Yorkshire circuit. Jackson finished third.

The second race was a role reversal as Turkington fended off Sutton to claim the honours. Rob Collard completed the podium.

Jackson took home his first BTCC win of the season in race three. Sutton finished second to take his third podium of the weekend, while Jason Plato finished third.

Linus Lundqvist and Alex Quinn shared the wins at Croft Circuit.

Lundqvist converted pole to victory in race one, followed by Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargeant.

Quinn scored his first win of the season ahead of team-mate Piastri in a superb one-two finish for TRS Arden. Sargeant completed the podium.

Lundqvist claimed a second lights-to-flag victory in the final race of the weekend. Quinn finished second, with Piastri in third to take his third podium finish of the weekend.

British GT Championship
Round 6: Silverstone GP, 10-11 June

Team Parker Racing’s Rick Parfitt Jnr and Seb Morris claimed a dominant victory in British GT’s blue riband, three-hour race - the Silverstone 500 - to blow this season’s GT3 Drivers’ title wide open.

The Bentley pair finished a minute and three seconds ahead of Macmillan AMR’s Aston Martin V12 Vantage driven by James Littlejohn and Jack Mitchell, while Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin’s Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 completed the podium.

The results see Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen retain their championship lead by four points from Morris and Parfitt Jnr, who also claimed Silverstone’s Blancpain Gentleman Driver Award. Cameron and Griffin move up to third in the GT3 standings.

BRDC British F3 Championship
Rounds 10-12: Silverstone GP, 10-11 June

Toby Sowery claimed his first two wins of the season at Silverstone, while Ben Hingeley won race two.

Sowery dominated race one to take his first win of the season, ahead of Carlin drivers Enaam Ahmed and James Pull.

Hingeley took race two, with Sowery and Pull completing the podium after a thrilling fight through the field from both drivers.

Sowery took a lights-to-flag victory in race three, Pull and Ahmed completed the podium after a tense battle for the runner-up position.

Scott Moran continued where he left off at Gurston Down with a win in the first encounter.

Weather affected the final shoot-out with Sean Gould taking a third career win as light rain fell shortly after his counting shot.

MAXXIS MSA English Rally Championship
Round 2: DMACK Carlisle Stages, 12 June 2017

62 championship crews started the second round of the championship, the Carlisle Stages.

Local driver Peter Taylor along with co-driver Andrew Roughead convincingly won the event ahead of Stephen Petch / Michael Wilkinson, with Callum Black / Elliott Edmondson taking the final podium place.

Ashley Davies / Lee Taylor were the highest placed two-wheel drive crew in 11th place overall and in the process scored maximum points in class E5.

Robert Dennis / Andrew Boswell (Escort Mk2) were again the winners of the large up to two litre class and the resulting 25 points gives them a slender championship lead.

In the hotly contested E6 class for Group NR4 cars it was Russ Thompson / Andy Murphy who emerged just 8 seconds ahead of Sacha Kakad / James Aldridge.
