Radical Unleashes RXC Turbo 600R 20th Anniversary Car At Goodwood Festival of Speed

Radical Sportscars have unleashed a one-off, special edition Radical RXC Turbo 600R road-registered coupe at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The unique specification, complete carbon-fibre body, 650bhp special project has been produced to celebrate the leading British manufacturer’s 2000th car milestone in its 20th anniversary year.

From its humble beginnings and iconic Clubsport model, still raced around the globe today, Radical Sportscars has become one of the most prolific sportscar manufacturers in the world, with 2,000 market-leading race, track-day and road-going cars produced from its Peterborough HQ.

The special edition road-legal Radical 600R is a fully specified version of the marque’s flagship RXC GT road-going GT3 equivalent, developed with additional Radical engineered aftermarket components and equipment. One of the world’s most extreme road-legal coupe, which brings LMP styling and aerodynamics, not to mention incredible torque and power to the street, it epitomises the unique design and engineering prowess on which Radical was founded in 1997.

The Radical RXC Turbo 600R boasts a Radical Performance Engines upgraded Ford EcoBoost 3.5-litre 650bhp twin turbocharged and intercooled engine and bespoke six-speed transverse Quaife gearbox with ‘Formula 1™ style’ paddle-activated gearshift system and auto-blipper. Other features include fully adjustable power steering, Bosch ABS system and Life Racing LMP-derived traction control system.

Resplendent in 20th anniversary livery bestowed on the full carbon-fibre bodywork, the Radical RXC Turbo 600R generates 900kg of over and underbody downforce, close to the car’s mass at speed. Weighing in at 1130kg, the complete package is a staggering 180mph powerhouse capable of covering 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds.

Inside the cockpit, accessed via the gullwing doors, the same exemplary level of bespoke upgrades continue, with premium Alcantara interior with grey accent stitching and bespoke leather and Alcantara Radical embroidered Corbeau seats. The finishing touch is a unique dashboard plaque defining it as the 2000th 20th anniversary car, complete with chassis number.

Official Radical Development Driver Tom Ashton, who has won races and earned podiums across the spectrum of official Radical championships and race models, is charged with unleashing the Radical RXC Turbo 600R up the iconic 1.16-mile hillclimb throughout the weekend.

Nigel Land, Radical Sportscars Marketing Director, commented: “Producing the 2000th car in our 20th year of operation is an incredible achievement for Radical. In celebration of these milestones, we decided to produce a special project car to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Radical RXC Turbo 600R tops a trio of new models released to mark this special anniversary year. It follows the launch of the latest evolution of the record-breaking 405bhp Radical SR8 earlier this year, while the second-generation entry-level prototype sportscar, the SR1 broke cover at Rockingham last weekend.

“The success of these two fantastic new models made scheduling to get the Radical 600R ready for this auspicious event somewhat challenging. The teams at our Peterborough HQ that have designed, engineered and manufactured this special car can take immense pride in their achievements, not only today but over the last two decades.”
