Rasse wins twice at home to challenge Lisandre's Lotus Cup Europe title lead

Belgian John Rasse won twice at Spa-Francorchamps to boost his Lotus Cup Europe title challenge as the FIA International Series visited the Belgian Grand Prix venue, supporting the Fun Cup 25 Hour race this weekend (7-8 July).

Rasse took pole position on the Ardennes track, before dominating both races in his V6 Exige Cup, whilst reigning champion Tamas Vizin from Hungary stood on the podium in both races. Swede Tommie Eliasson and Frenchman Xavier Georges took a third and second place respectively,
completing an Exige V6 overall podium lock-out, although Georges suffered tyre issues in the opening race.

Both 2-Eleven class victories were claimed by Christophe Lisandre, meaning that the Frenchman maintains his title advantage, however Rasse’s brace of wins mean that he keeps in touch with the championship leader.

Sharon Scolari (Switzerland) and David Harvey (Britain) shared the Open class spoils, whilst Britain’s Jason McInulty dominated both Production class races. The lower podium places in this category were hotly-contested, with James Knight (Britain), Philippe Vanpevenaeyge (Belgium) Sven
Pettersson (Sweden), and Thierry Hedoin (France) all standing on the rostrum.

The next rounds of Lotus Cup Europe take place in Belgium’s Zolder on 15-17 September.
