Risi Competizione Announces Entry & Drivers for 2019 Petit Le Mans Race

Houston, Texas (October 1, 2019)...Risi Competizione Ferrari Team owner, Giuseppe Risi, announced his plans today to enter the 22nd Annual Motul Petit Le Mans race, October 9-12, at the newly named Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. This is the final round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series for 2019.

The Houston, Texas-based Ferrari team entry will feature Ferrari Competizioni GT factory drivers James Calado, from Worcester, England, and Alessandro Pier Guidi, of Tortona, Italy, along with new Risi driver, Daniel Serra, of Sao Paolo, Brazil. The trio of Ferrari drivers won this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE-Pro class in a Ferrari 488 GTE. Calado and Pier Guidi partnered with Davide Rigon and Miguel Molina in the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE at the 2019 running of the IMSA Rolex 24 At Daytona for a second place finish in the GTLM class earlier this year, the team's last IMSA race.

The Risi Competizione Ferrari Team, which most recently competed with a Ferrari 488 GTE-Pro at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where they finished 12th in class, will bring back the popular Rosso Corsa red traditional Risi livery for their Petit Le Mans effort, again with their No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTE in the GTLM class.

"Petit Le Mans has been a special race to me and the team since it first started at Road Atlanta 22 years ago," said Team Principal Giuseppe Risi. "Having won that inaugural race in 1998 and three additional victories, I'm quite fond of this race and this venue."

The Risi Competizione team, now 22 years old, has extensive history at the 10-hour Petit Le Mans race. With four victories, 10 podiums, and six poles in 24 entries over 18 years, the American Ferrari team of Team Principal Giuseppe Risi is one of the best-known teams on track. The renowned Ferrari team competed in the first ever Petit Le Mans race in 1998 when Wayne Taylor, Eric van der Poele and Emmanuel Collard drove into the history books in the Doyle-Risi Ferrari 333 SP in the inaugural Petit Le Mans race.

Risi Competizione cars have collected three additional victories at the popular IMSA season finale. In 2008 Jamie Melo and Mika Salo won from pole position in the Ferrari 430 GT2 and again in 2009 with Melo, Salo and Pierre Kaffer, also in the 430 GT2. The Team's last victory came in 2016 when Giancarlo Fisichella, Toni Vilander and Calado brought the Risi Ferrari 488 GTLM to the checkered flag in first place.

Calado and Pier Guidi were the 2017 GT Driver's Champion in FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), driving for AF Corse. Pier Guidi has already clinched the 2019 FIA European Le Mans Series (ELMS) GTE-LM championship.

Brazilian Serra, although new to the Risi stable, is no stranger in a Ferrari, nor at Road Atlanta. He is the 2018 Petit Le Mans GTD class winner, along with teammates Cooper MacNeil and Gunnar Jeannette. He also competed at the annual Fall IMSA finale in 2012 and 2013 in the Ferrari 458 Italia and 488 GTE with Scuderia Corse.
