One lap ahead of the Rebellions. The cars in the top 5 in the highly competitive LMP2 class were all within 30 seconds. In LMGTE Pro, the struggling Porsches watched from behind a duel between Aston Martin Racing's Vantage AMRs and AF Corse's Ferrari 488s. In the LMGTE Am class, Team Project 1's #56 Porsche, TF Sport's #90 Aston Martin and AF Corse's #83 Ferrari battled it out on the track.
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing's #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid shared by Mike Conway/Kamui Kobayashi/José María López held a 50-second lead on its #8 sister car driven by Sébastien Buemi/Kazuki Nakajima/Brendon Hartley. Rebellion Racing's two Rebellion R13-Gibsons trail behind, the #1 de Bruno Senna/Norman Nato/Gustavo Menezes in the same lap and the #3 of teammates Romain Dumas/Nathanaël Berthon/Louis Delétraz one lap behind. After reaching the top 5, ByKOLLES Racing's #4 Enso CLM P1/01-Gibson of Tom Dillmann/Bruno Spengler/Oliver Webb lost 20 minutes in the third hour in pit lane with gearbox troubles, falling to 36th position. The car has since returned to the track with Oliver Webb at the wheel and is climbing back through the field, in 26th position at the end of the fourth hour.
In LMP2, as expected, United Autosports tops the hierarchy in the class, but the opposition was formidable. After leading quite an offensive for the first three hours, SO24-HAS By Graff's #39 ORECA 07-Gibson shared by James Allen/Charles Milesi/Vincent Capillaire spun on the track early in the fourth hour. G-Drive Racing's #26 Aurus 01-Gibson driven by Roman Rusinov/Jean-Eric Vergne/Mikkel Jensen took up the mantle ahead of Jackie Chan DC Racing's #37 ORECA 07-Gibson of Ho-Pin Tung/Gabriel Aubry/Will Stevens and the best ranked of the two United Autosports cars, the #32 ORECA 07-Gibson shared by Will Owen/Alex Brundle/Job van Uitert. Following only 30 seconds from the lead LMP2 were JOTA Sport's #38 ORECA 07-Gibson driven by Anthony Davidson/António Félix da Costa/Roberto Gonzales. The battle is fierce in the class and the lead goes from one team to another per refuellings and driver changes. Richard Mille Racing's all-female driver line-up of Tatiana Calderon/Sophia Flörsch/Beitske Visser at the wheel of the #50 ORECA 07-Gibson ended the fourth hour in a respectable 19th position.
In LMGTE Pro, the big news in the class this hour was that Porsche GT Team's 911 SRS were not at the top of their game. The #91 shared by Gianmaria Bruni/Richard Lietz/Frédéric Makowiecki and the #92 driven by Michael Christensen/Kévin Estre/Laurens Vanthoor held the fifth and sixth spots behind the leading trio. It looked as if the Aston Martins and Ferraris had set a good pace for themselves in qualifying. Though AF Corse's #71 Ferrari 488 GTE EVO of Davide Rigon/Miguel Molina/Sam Bird ended the fourth hour in the lead in the class, it was closely shadowed by the #97 Vantage AMR shared by Maxime Martin/Alex Lynn/Harry Tincknell and AF Corse's #51 Ferrari 488 GT EVO driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi/James Calado/Daniel Serra.
The LMGTE Am class saw a three-way fight between Team Project 1's #56 Porsche 911 RSR of Edigio Perfetti/Larry Ten Voorde/Matteo Cairoli and the Hub Auto Racing #72 Ferrari 488 GTO EVO of Morris Chen/Tom Blomqvist/Marcos Gomes and AF Corse's #83 Ferrari of François Perrodo/Emmanuel Collard/Nicklas Nielsen. In fourth position was TF Sport's #90 Aston Martin Vantage AMR shared by Salih Yoluc/Charles Eastwood/Jonathan Adam.
