Italian racing team Iron Lynx announced today that for the second time this season, it will enter an all-female Iron Dames car in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup.

The three-hour endurance race will take place at Barcelona on the weekend of 9th/10th October, and Iron Lynx’s entries will comprise:

Car #51 – Alessandro Pier Guidi / Nicklas Nielsen / Côme Ledogar
Car #71 – Antonio Fuoco / Callum Ilott / TBC
Car #83 – Sarah Bovy / Doriane Pin / Michelle Gatting
Iron Lynx currently leads both the Teams and Drivers Endurance Cup going into this final round, with Car #51 having won the 24 Hours of Spa event overall, and banked points consistently throughout the season.

For the Iron Dames, this second foray into the GT World Challenge will be the second time an all-female team have competed in the championship. Dane Michelle Gatting will join her European Le Mans Series FIA World Endurance Championship teammate Sarah Bovy from Belgium, alongside French “pocket rocket” Doriane Pin, whose impressive performance at the GT World Challenge at Paul Ricard is well remembered.

The Barcelona race will be part of the Festival de la Velocidad de Barcelona, a public event including not only racing but also a car show. The event this year will honour the legacy of Spanish racing driver Maria de Villota, whose charity work continues in her name, and Maria’s achievements will be in the minds of the Iron Dames when they take to the track that weekend.

Team Principal Giacomo Piccini commented: “Barcelona is the final round of the championship, and we are quietly confident since our wins there in April in both the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup. We have a superb line-up of drivers in our Pro Cup cars chasing the championship, and a new mix of female drivers in the Iron Dames Pro-Am car too. We are looking forward to the challenge and making it count in the three-hour race on Sunday”.

Iron Lynx will also be racing in Italian F4 at Mugello that same weekend, with young racers Leonardo Fornaroli, Pietro Armanni and Iron Dame Maya Weug challenging for single-seater honours.
