Great cars from across motorsport history will gather at Shelsley Walsh for the Classic Nostalgia meeting on 22-23 July 2023.

The event for predominantly pre-1971 cars will hark back to the glory days of motorsport. Known throughout the motoring world for its unique atmosphere, Shelsley Walsh allows enthusiasts to get close to the action as well as the cars and drivers.

This year marks the 12th anniversary of the annual flagship event, which features a spectacular blend of exciting action both on and off the hill, plus demonstration runs, the popular Classic & Sports Car Concours d’Elegance, quality trade stands and non-stop live entertainment. Previous years have included highlights such as Hans Stuck driving a pre-war Auto Union Grand Prix car up the hill, as well as Derek Bell being reunited with one of his Group C Porsches.

Celebrating 65 years of the British Touring Car Championship
One of the main themes that will be celebrated at this year’s Classic Nostalgia will be the 65th anniversary of the British Touring Car Championship. Established in 1958 as the British Saloon Car Championship, it is one of the most popular racing series in the world, and has featured countless great names who have had international success, from Jack Sears and Jim Clark all the way up to more recent stars such as Alain Menu and Jason Plato.

We are busy gathering an amazing collection of genuine ex-BSCC/BTCC cars from across the decades, including early models from Austin and Ford, through Lotus Cortinas and Triumph Dolomites to the revered Group A era of the Sierra Cosworth and Rover Vitesse, and on to the Super Touring cars of the 1990s and beyond. Do you own one and would like to take part? Please contact rebecca@eventspr.co.uk with full details.

Other notable anniversaries that will be honoured at Classic Nostalgia include 90 years of ERA – the famous voiturette single-seaters that enjoyed so much success at Shelsley Walsh – plus 60 years of McLaren and 60 years of the giant-killing Mini Cooper S. It promises to be another unmissable celebration of motorsport history.

Shelsley Walsh to celebrate rally greats
Ralli22 will also be returning to Shelsley Walsh. Always a crowd favourite, the rally class will feature an awesome selection of 22 Group A, Group B and WRC machinery representing British-run, British-designed or British-built rally cars. The chance to see these immensely quick machines flat-out at close quarters is something not to be missed.

Classic & Sports Car Concours d’Elegance
On Sunday, the popular Classic & Sports Car Concours d’Elegance will return to Classic Nostalgia. It is open to all cars built before 1985, and the judging will be led by motoring journalist and regular Shelsley Walsh competitor Simon Taylor. He will be joined by John Mayhead, classic car valuations expert from event partner Hagerty, plus Alastair Clements, editor of Classic & Sports Car magazine.

Entries are welcome from any concours-worthy car, with priority given to those with significant provenance and rarity. There will be four classes to be judged: Pre-World War 2; 1949-1959; 1960-1985 Saloons; and 1960-1985 Sports/GT – plus a Spirit of the Day award for an entry that may not be in top concours condition but is outstanding in its own special way.

There is no entry fee to participate, but a general entrance ticket is required unless you are an MAC member.

Classic Nostalgia is the perfect event at which to hold an annual car club gathering in the most picturesque setting. Car clubs are actively encouraged to take part in the flagship event and are entitled to discounted admission tickets, plus their own reserved area for 10 cars or more when booked under the club’s name.
