Spa returns to 2024 Intelligent Money British GT Championship schedule

Legendary Belgian GP venue features on nine-race calendar

The Intelligent Money British GT Championship is returning to the iconic Spa-Francorchamps next season following confirmation of the nine-race, seven-event calendar that was revealed – fittingly – at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa on Saturday.

Belgium’s grand prix venue hosted British GT’s traditional ‘away day’ from 2014 until 2022 but did not appear on this year’s schedule which instead features Algarve International Circuit.

However, SRO Speedweek’s return just prior to next year’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa means iconic names like Eau Rouge, Raidillon and the Bus Stop Chicane will all once again feature on British GT’s calendar.

The season begins, as is tradition, with two sprint races at Oulton Park on Easter Bank Holiday Weekend, which falls earlier than usual next year. British GT’s blue riband, three-hour Silverstone 500 also moves forward into late April before Donington stages the first of its two rounds in May. That one is also scheduled to last 180 minutes.

There’s then another four-week gap until the season’s first two-hour race at Spa, after which Snetterton hosts 2024’s final two 60-minute sprints. The penultimate round then takes place at Brands Hatch in early September.

The two-hour Donington Decider will close out Season 32 in late September or early October.

As always, the calendar avoids any clashes with SRO’s European GT3 and GT4 championships, as well as the Nurburgring and Le Mans 24 Hours, while the FIA World Endurance Championship’s adoption of GT3 regulations has also been considered. Prioritising these series means that several high-profile domestic clashes are unfortunately unavoidable.
