H&H - £43,000 for Audi Sport Quattro

Some 80% over Estimate!

When the sun shines, there are few finer locations for a classic auctionthan H&H's spiritual home of the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, Derbyshire andon June 8 it shone especially brightly on a certain red, 1985,righthand drive Audi Sport Quattro. This very clean example of a modelcurrently celebrating its 20th anniversary was eventually knocked down for£43,000 - nearly 80% over the estimate! Existing owners of these excitingcars might do well to check their insurance valuations!

A Denis Welch prepared 1961 MK II Healey 3000 rally car fetched £32,250,while a tidy MKIV Cobra of 1985 vintage made £35,200. E-Types continue tosell well and a cosseted red 1966 Roadster found a new home for just over£22,000 (even though it was converted from a Fixed-Head Coupe at some timein its life), while a 1972 V12 Roadster made a touch more at £24,725.

Every sale has an 'unknown quantity', and on this occasion it was a partrestored 1934 Armstrong Siddeley Special Sports Saloon to be sold withoutreserve. This was eventually snapped up for £10,750.

New homes were found for 94% of the previous day's 740 lots of automobilia.The six Malcolm Campbell scrapbooks made a total of £3,500, while the DonaldCampbell Bluebird parachute made above estimate at £935. The total of theCampbell lots - £4,450 - will be donated towards the purchase of a speciallyconverted minibus for a special needs school in Wiltshire.

Quality pedal cars are very much flavour of the month and the charmingBentley 'Le Mans' style machine in this sale changed hands for just over£3,000.
