The fourth round of the 2025 Drift Masters season saw Piotr Wiecek end his near two-year wait for a victory as he overcame home favourite Conor Shanahan in a thrilling final chase to claim the win at Mondello Park in Ireland. Here is all you need to know:

- Wiecek’s path to victory saw him overcome compatriot Pawel Korpulinski in the Top 8 before defeating Czech ace Marco Zakouřil in a thrilling Top 4 battle. That meant the Pole would face Shanahan in the final and have the chance to gain revenge for his loss to the Irishman last time out in Finland.

- The highly anticipated rematch lived up to the hype as both drivers pushed their cars and each other to the absolute limit. The first runs couldn’t separate them, leading to the judges calling for one more battle.

- In the final chase, Shanahan’s tyre came away from the wheel just before crossing the line. After a tense review, the win was awarded to Wiecek, ending a 675-day dry spell and launching him from tenth to second in the championship standings.

- Despite the defeat, Shanahan still walked away from Mondello with the championship firmly in his grasp. The 22-year-old holds a 60-point advantage over Wiecek and, after claiming back-to-back podium finishes, is looking a strong favourite to defend his title.

- Kevin Pesur also continued his excellent run of form, delivering an electric performance in the play-off to score his second podium of the year. The Estonian’s day included one of the most talked-about battles of the weekend, a shock win over James Deane in the Top 32, before pushing through a stacked bracket and earning third place after Zakouřil suffered an engine failure.

- As the championship crosses its halfway point, Shanahan remains in the lead but Wiecek is now on the charge in second and Pesur is in third place. Next, the championship heads to Latvia on July 26-27 as the drivers take on one of the most iconic drift venues in the world, Bikernieki Circuit.
