Five Porsche 911 GT3 R, competing for three Porsche customer teams, will take on the iconic FIA GT World Cup next month at the historic Guia Circuit as the marque looks to claim its first victory on the streets of Macau.
Absolute Racing will once again take on the event, after securing a pair of top five finishes during last year’s edition in tricky conditions. The Shanghai-based team names an unchanged line-up from the 2024 running, featuring Belgian duo Alessio Picariello and Laurens Vanthoor.
Vanthoor has enjoyed a strong 2025, recently securing second at the Suzuka 1000km with the squad, as well as earning victories at Rolex 24 Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring during the season. Picariello has also achieved success in the Asia-Pacific region and in Europe, as the newly crowned GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup champion.
After completing their Macau debut in 2024, Schumacher CLRT returns to the Guia Circuit, this time with two Porsche 911 GT3 R. Fresh off his Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) championship victory, courtesy of a dramatic last lap overtake at Hockenheimring, Ayhancan Güven looks to impress on his maiden outing at the FIA GT World Cup.
On the other side of the garage, Laurin Heinrich once again drives for the outfit after competing together at last year’s race. The German driver has enjoyed podiums across IMSA SportsCar Championship, GT World Challenge Asia, GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup and Thailand Super Series in what has been a busy campaign for the 24-year-old.
Finally, Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver Dorian Boccolacci will make his Macau GT debut with Phantom Global Racing. The Frenchman has taken four podiums across his GT World Challenge Asia campaign with the Chinese outfit, as well as completing the Suzuka 1000km with the squad. In addition to this, he’s also competed in Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS), securing two race wins, Nürburgring 24 Hours, Super GT and Thailand Super Series during 2025.
The 6.12-kilometre Guia Circuit is one of the most iconic in world motorsport, with itsnarrow sections and tight corners mixed with long straights and fast, flowing sections. The layout has remained unmodified since 1957, with the narrowest part of the circuit located at the Melco Hairpin, where the track is just seven metres wide. Since its founding in 2017, Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific has a storied history at Macau, supporting customers every year that the race has run.
The Macau Grand Prix takes place on 13-16 November, with the full timetable to be released in due course. The Greater Bay Area GT Cup also acts as SRO GT Cup’s season finale, with Porsche entries to be confirmed closer to the time.
Alessio Picariello, Absolute Racing: “I’m very happy to be back with Absolute Racing and Porsche for a third consecutive year at the FIA GT World Cup in Macau. It’s always an honour to be chosen to represent the brand and the team at such an iconic event. I’m excited to return – the last two years have been solid, and although we were close to the podium in 2024, we want more and will give it everything to achieve this.”
Laurens Vanthoor, Absolute Racing: “I’m really looking forward to Macau – it’s always one of my favourite races of the season. It’s one of the craziest and most exciting tracks out there. We’ve been trying to get a win there over the past couple of years, but it’s been challenging. I think this year, if it stays dry, we might have a better chance. We had some good practice last in 2024, and we can use that experience and knowledge to put together a stronger race this time, aiming to fight for the win.”
Ayhancan Güven, Schumacher CLRT: “Macau is on every drivers bucket list so I’m very excited to compete at this unique track for the first time! The format is challenging for a debutant like me, with limited time before Qualifying, but I’ll do my best to maximise the weekend. I’m grateful to be working with Schumacher CLRT again and hopefully this helps with the adaptation and preparation for the event. Thanks to the team and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific for making this possible!”
Laurin Heinrich, Schumacher CLRT: “I can’t wait to return to Macau after my debut at the event in 2024, which I’ll be looking to build on. It’s great to have some experience around this magnificent but very difficult track in both wet and dry conditions after last year. I’m also pleased to see Schumacher CLRT entering a second car and I’ve driven with Ayhancan on multiple occasions, so I know that with the support of the team we can enjoy a strong weekend.”
Dorian Boccolacci, Phantom Global Racing: “I’m delighted to be making my first-ever GT appearance in Macau, 10 years after I competed here in the Macau Grand Prix. I know the track from that event, but it will be very different in the Porsche 911 GT3 R this time around. The preparation with the team will be so important as it’s a very intense circuit where you need to be on the limit from the first practice session. I’m looking forward to the experience and will aim for a positive result.”
Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “We’re delighted to be returning to the FIA GT World Cup in Macau and to be supporting five Porsche 911 GT3 R. It’s great to have two regional customers in Absolute Racing and Phantom Global Racing competing, as well as welcoming back Schumacher CLRT with an expanded effort, returning after last year’s edition. We’ll also get to see both Dorian and DTM champion Ayhancan making their Macau GT debuts, which is very exciting! It’s an iconic and prestigious event in the Asia-Pacific region and with the line-up we’ve got, we believe that we have the potential to be fighting at the sharp end of the grid.”
