SUBLIME, SPEEDY & EXTROVERT ENTRIES SPICE UP THE AUCTION LANDSCAPE

Historics Auctioneers | The Brooklands Velocity; Mercedes-Benz World - 29th November 2025

The wonderfully wide choice of classic and collector cars is brought slap-bang into focus at Historics effervescent live sale at Mercedes-Benz World, Brooklands  on Saturday, 29th November.  Within the rich 175-strong entry, there’s huge appeal across all age,

Waving the flag vigorously for exotic limousine honours is a hugely-opulent 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith ‘Perspex Top’. This utterly unique, magnificent Hooper coach-built saloon was commissioned by the flamboyant multi-millionaire Nubar Gulbenkian. Beneath its bespoke perspex roof is an interior of consummate luxury.

Gold dust for classic British sportscar fans is a unique 1981 Triumph TR7 V8 factory development car in fine condition whilst a 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL of breath-taking quality leads a tremendous entry of no less than 30 M-B models, the earliest being a glorious 1951 Mercedes-Benz 170S Cabriolet, whilst a much sought-after and super-rare 2005 Mercedes-Benz G400 Convertible is a magnificent counterpoint.

For motorsport finery, a speedy 1955 Triumph TR2 ex-works Le Mans 24 hour entry - driven to 15th place that year - surely takes the top step.

The original press car of Jaguar specialist Helm is another supreme entry. Number One of just six bespoke models, the 1963 Helm E-Type Series I Coupé featuring a sensational specification with a host of upgrades.

Representing Dagenham is a fabulous and historically significant 1972 Escort Mexico MK.I East Africa Safari Rally car, one of a number of unique motorsport-prepped and fast-road Fords, a magnificent 1987 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection showing just 2,400 miles since new and, representing Ford US, a rumbling 1967 Ford Mustang S-Code Fastback. Talking muscle cars, there’s an incredibly authentic 1999 AC Cobra CR427, the sole aluminium-bodied Cobra built by Crendon.

A glorious one-owner 2001 Rolls-Royce Corniche, one of just 38 RHD examples with just 6,000 miles to its name, heads a fine selection of Crewe’s finest, whilst vying for enthusiast attention are a brood of classics from Colin Chapman’s Norfolk stable including a 1972 Lotus Elan Plus 2 S, originally given by Chapman to Lotus GP driver, Ronnie Peterson. Upholding Audi’s sporting honours is a 1985 Audi Quattro Turbo with a 20v engine upgrade - a superb reflection of one of the most significant cars of the post-war era.

If you like your motoring more on the wild side, there’s an eye-candy trio of early 70’s California show cars, a vibrant reflection of such one-of-a-kind vehicles built by West Coast USA-based customizers in the 60’s and 70’s. All are enticingly offered without reserve.

‘Sand Draggin’ was essentially a take on an outlandish dune buggy, believed to have been built around 1970. Its eye-popping specification includes a monster 7.4 litre V8 delivering in the region of 670bhp. ‘Pool Hustler’, a showcase of fun, was also created around 1970. Atop a V8 Hemi powerhouse is a full-size original pool table believed to be some 100 years old, with a cascade of whimsical features.

The ‘Sidewinder’ three-wheeler was built around its beefy transverse (and hence the name) Buick 329 cu in V8. Street presence is assured thanks to the monster magnesium rear wheels and tyres ‘borrowed’ from a Douglas DC-6 airliner!
