SMRC 50th at Classic SpeedFair

The 50th anniversary of the Scottish Motor Racing Club will be another landmark celebration during the inaugural Classic SpeedFair at Knockhill Racing Circuit on 23 July 2006.

The club, which has worked tirelessly to promote and organise motor racing in Scotland, was formed in 1956 as a part of the Border Motor Racing Club.

These days, SMRC is responsible for most of the racing and championships that feature regularly at Knockhill and the club is hoping to attract as many former members and racers to the Classic SpeedFair as possible. The celebrations will include a special 50th anniversary dinner on the Friday evening of the weekend at The Sheraton Hotel, Edinburgh.

As well as a full programme of SMRC racing on the Saturday, the club will form a special parade of champions over the 50 years in their race and/or road cars during Sunday.
