at Classic SpeedFair The debut event for a brand new race series for Pre '66 Historic Racing Saloons will be one of the star events on the race programme at the inaugural Classic SpeedFair at Knockhill Racing Circuit on 23 July 2006.Backed by H&H Auctions, the new 'Tin Top Historic Racing Saloon Series' is open to any pre '66 saloon car prepared to international historic racing regulations. The series is set to attract a glorious range of racing saloons from the 1960s; from Jaguar Mk2s through Lotus Cortinas to Mini Coopers, with Alfa Romeos, BMWs and much more. With a number of mighty American V8 saloons such as Ford Mustangs and Ford Falcons expected on the grid, the stage is set for some fabulous racing, with plenty of David v Goliath type battles.Great news for visitors to the Classic SpeedFair is that the debut race for the new series will be held at Knockhill, and will be called the 'Knockhill 100'. Running over a distance of 50 laps will give a 100km distance for the two-driver race, so fans can enjoy the spectacle of a race with pit-stops and driver changes."We want to run a small number of quality events," explains series founder Tony Collins. "We are hoping to take a grid of 28 cars to Knockhill, covering all the capacity classes.""Classic saloon racing is a real favourite with the crowds and competitors alike and there are few ways of having more fun with your clothes on," reckons Simon Hope of H&H Auctions. As well as backing the series, Hope intends to race in it as well.
