Top Hat Classic for RW Racing

Donnington Park 29 April to 1 May 06

A great weekend of historic racing was enjoyed by all over the bank holiday weekend with the RW Racing Services prepared cars of Chris Phillips and Grahame & Olly Bryant enjoying great sucess.

The Lotus 15 of Grahame & Olly qualified on pole in the Coys 50's Sports Car Race. Olly, however, had to start from the pit lane due to a problem with another of their cars in the previous race. Showing great determination however, he managed to regain the lead by lap 5, where he stayed for the remainder of the race. His father, Grahame, was due to be the second driver in the event, but decided that as Olly was going so well, he could continue for the duration. To comply with  the event regulations, Olly came in for the "driver change", got out of the car, ran round and got back in to continue to take the chequered flag in front of the Lotus 17 of Peter Horsman.

The Shelby-Tojeiro Celebration Trophy for AC Sports cars saw Chris Phillips and Barrie (Whizzo) Williams on the front row of the grid in Chris's beautiful AC Cobra. A good race followed with Chris and Barrie holding their position and going on to finish 2nd overall, behind Grahame & Olly Bryant in their Cobra. Another RW car, the AC Cobra of Kevin Kivlochan, finished 3rd. Kevin shared his drive with another racing legend, Dickie Attwood.

Onwards now to Silverstone at the end of May...
