Bentwood relishes Heritage GT outing
Former BTCC racer Michael Bentwood had one of the most enjoyable races of his career recently when he contested the second round of the Heritage GT Car Challenge at Donington Park.Bentwood raced in both British F3 and the BTCC before switching to international GT racing this season with the Barwell Motorsport Aston Martin DBRS9. For the Heritage races at Donington he shared the Aston Martin DB4 of his GT partner Tom Alexander."It was a great experience," said Bentwood of his first race in a classic car. "The DB4 is fantastic to drive and it's never in a straight line!" Having only had a handful of laps in testing ahead of his debut race, Bentwood drove superbly to finish third in the sprint race. Then, in soaking wet conditions in the two-driver race the following day, Alexander and Bentwood finished a mighty second."I loved it! I can't believe how exciting these cars are to drive," reported Bentwood. "I'd definitely like to do some more Heritage races," he added.
