Silverstone confirms stunning 22 race line-up and world’s largest paddock

With just over three weeks to go until the 2006 Silverstone Classic, in association with Bonhams, event organisers have announced the line-up for this year’s three day event (28-30 July), which will feature a staggering array of 22 races and, probably, the largest paddock in the world.
In total, seven decades of classic motor racing will be represented involving over 800 competitors who will be battling for honours, on Silverstone’s famous 3.144 mile Historic Grand Prix circuit, in some of the most celebrated and valuable racing machines ever built. Day tickets are priced at just £15 per adult in advance (£20 on the day) or Event Tickets, offering great value at £40 in advance for all three days, are available at silverstone.co.uk/classic, or by calling 08704 588 260.
The Silverstone Classic will get underway at 09:00hrs on Friday 28 July when the HSCC Historic Formula Junior cars head out on track for the first practice session. Historic F1, F2, F3 & F5000 cars, sportscars, GT & Sports Endurance cars will also feature on day one of the three day event, which will include two afternoon races, and the first ever appearance by Classic 750 & Unlimited cc Motorcycles.

Friday 28 July:
15:45hrs Race 1 – The Colin Chapman Trophy for HSCC Historic Formula Junior cars 16:20hrs Race 2 - The Innes Ireland Trophy for Gentlemen Drivers GT & Sports Endurance
The festival atmosphere will then continue on Saturday when more than 40 Hot Air Balloons are set to fire up and depart on the traditional morning and evening Fly Outs.
The first cars will power out on to the circuit for an 08:30 practice session, which will then be followed by an action packed schedule of non- stop racing.
Fans will be particularly keen to keep an eye on this year’s Woodcote Trophy race which includes former Formula One World Champion and British motorsport legend Sir Stirling Moss.
Sir Stirling will be back racing at Silverstone in Tony Pickering’s OSCA MT4, while autograph hunters will also be able to head to the Scarf & Goggles for 11:00hrs where a number of celebrity drivers will be in attendance and signing autographs. Sir Jackie Stewart and Damon Hill will join the competitors for interviews and autographs during the weekend period.
The special feature ‘Aston Martin Racing Pursuit Challenge with Autosport’, featuring works DBR1 to DBR9 race cars, is also set to be hugely popular. With a further nine races scheduled for the Sunday, this year’s Silverstone Classic is set to be bigger and better than ever, and will be a feast of classic motor racing for everyone from the casual spectator to the most ardent enthusiast.
In addition to a spectacular entry list the entire infield will be packed with classic car and motor cycle club displays, featuring up to 1,500 classic vehicles representing 52 marques; a period fun fair; air displays; hot air balloons; an Antique & Craft fair; trade stalls; automobilia; a Scalextric Roadshow, plus live music and barbecues in the famous Scarf & Goggles entertainment area.
The list of activities is endless, with plenty to keep the whole family entertained throughout the three days, both on and off the track.

Tickets for the 2006 Silverstone Classic have been priced at an attractive £15 per day if booked in advance (£20 on the day).
A special £40 three-day pass is also available providing a massive £20 (33%) saving against on-the-day prices.
