Stewart to drive Tyrrell 001
at Classic SpeedFair Sir Jackie Stewart will be re-united with one of the most important Grand Prix cars from his racing career during the inaugural Classic SpeedFair at Knockhill on Sunday 23 July.The three-time World Champion will take Tyrrell 001 onto the Scottish track and complete some parade laps in what will be one of the highlights of the event created to be an annual celebration of historic motorsport and sporting heritage at Knockhill."It will be a tremendous thrill for everyone to see Sir Jackie driving such a famous car at Knockhill," says Stuart Gray of KnockhillThe first Grand Prix car to be designed and built by Ken Tyrrell's team will be making its debut at Knockhill thanks to the support of owner John Delane. Tyrrell 001 was unveiled at Oulton Park in 1970 and has been fully restored to race-ready condition in recent times. Stewart will drive the car in a parade during Sunday's racing programme and will also be on hand to present awards to the winners.In addition, a special Jackie Stewart Trophy race will be run for Formula Ford 1600 cars and will count as a qualifier for the end-of-season Walter Hayes Trophy race at Silverstone.Marque clubs, military vehicles, commercial vehicles and airborne displays will all feature in an event that is being designed to cater for 'grandfathers to grandsons'!
