Bumper entry for Heritage GT races at Brands
Another tremendous field will line up for the final races of the season in the Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge during the Formula Ford Festival meeting at Brands Hatch over the weekend of 21/22 October.
Providing a glorious contrast to the single-seater action will be a pair of races for the Heritage GT Challenge, a great series for sports and saloon cars from the 1960s and 1970s. After a sprint race on Saturday, the Heritage season will conclude with a 45-minute two-driver race on Sunday.
A gaggle of cars have already won races this season in the non-championship series, including the Morgan +8 of Phil Hollins, the Chevrolet Camaro of Arthur Thurtle/Roger Bennington and the Ford Mustang of David Yates/Graham Scarborough. Meanwhile, the very quick Chevrolet Camaro of Peter Hall/Andy Rouse will be a very strong contender and was a double winner at Brands a month ago in front of the BTCC crowd.
Another race winner has been the stunning Aston Martin V8 of Chris Scragg/John Bussell, and race coach Bussell could be busy on Sunday as he is also planning to share the Aston Martin DB4 of Ian McCallum. Meanwhile, the pace of Tom Alexander's DB4 – which he will share with BTCC and GT racer Michael Bentwood – could put the car right at the head of the action.
Other cars to watch for in this spectacular field include the Ford Mustang of Leo Voyazides/John Young and the Aston Martin DBS V8 of Bob Searles and TV presenter Tony Jardine. Also sure to be spectacular in its first race for several seasons will be the mighty Chevrolet Malibu of Alan and Jason Minshaw.
Meanwhile, in the other classes, the Peter Lloyd/Stephen Hayward Jaguar E Type and the Lotus Elan 26R of Pat Thomas/Mike Youles are particular gems.
In the class for classic saloon cars, local veteran Gordon Streeter in his amazing Ford Anglia takes on the BMW of Norman Ricketts, while the invitation class includes Kent brothers Andy and Gary Britnell in an amazing TVR-engined Ford Escort Mk1.
