Two more Lotus Cortinas ...
join Heritage GT gridTwo more Lotus Cortinas joined the grid for Charterhouse Heritage GT Challenge during the most recent races at Snetterton (28/29 July).Former oval racer Colin Voyce and former production saloon racer Sean Brown have joined forces to share a car. While Voyce had not competed since 1983, Brown has only done a couple of Renault Clio races in the last decade. Brown last raced a Lotus Cortina in the 1994 ICS Historic Saloon series. "The car was a bare shell two weeks ago," said Voyce, who even withdrew the entry for Snetterton thinking that the car would not be ready. But he was persuaded to keep working and finally got the car ready to finish both races despite the usual new car teething problems. They plan to return for more Heritage races.Meanwhile, engine builder Dave Mountain and former BTCC racer Graham Hathaway also gave their Lotus Cortina a debut run. Hathaway was busy over the weekend tending to the BTCC Honda he enters for Simon Blanckley, but found time to drive a Lotus Cortina for the first time in his long career."It's the first run for the car and my first race for two years," reported Hathaway. "It's busy running from this to the BTCC and back again," he added.
