Hundreds of classic cars ....

will take to Britain’s roads

Classic car enthusiasts have raced to secure their entries for the Norwich Union MSA Classic - snapping up the coveted 600 places for the October event in less than three weeks.

The iconic classic car event, which will take place on 14th October, has been reinstated after a ten-year absence and the response from motorists across the country has been phenomenal. This year there are five start locations, Bath, Epsom, York, Silverstone and Norwich, all of which will take motorists on some of the best driving roads in Britain. Routes will culminate at Silverstone, where entrants will get to fulfil many a motorist’s dream of driving the legendary Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

The event is sure to be a spectators’ delight as hundreds of historic cars will take to the roads.  This year will see an unrivalled line-up of some of the world’s best-loved cars, including Jaguar E-Types, Aston Martins, a Ferrari Dino and a Volkswagen Beetle - which was bought in pieces for just £20 in 1986. The event promises to be an exceptional opportunity to view such a vast range of classic cars all in one day.

Event organiser International Motor Sports (IMS) has been overwhelmed with the response it has received to the event this year, “We always knew the Classic was going to be welcomed back but we could never have predicted that we would be deluged with so many entries in such a short space of time. To have reached full capacity in just less than three weeks is incredible – and certainly a record in the history of the event!” commented Andrew Coe, chief executive.

Commenting on the announcement that entries have filled up, Tanya Veingard, head of sponsorship for Norwich Union, explained: “The response we have had to the revival of the Norwich Union MSA Classic has been fantastic. As the original sponsor, we are delighted to once again be reunited with the original organiser and have the opportunity to relive the glory and atmosphere of past events. For those classic car enthusiasts who have been unable to participate this year, there will be the opportunity in 2008.”

The MSA Classic is making a welcomed return to the motoring enthusiast’s calendar having first taken place in 1986.  Almost 2000 cars entered in 1996 making it one of the largest moving classic car events ever held.
