National Motor Racing Archive

New Structure and New Team.

After 19 years of growth we are pleased to announce that the National Motor Racing Archive has been incorporated as a non profit making company limited by guarantee. Archive spokesman Martin Hadwen said that this has created the correct framework to take the Archive forward and to provide a more secure base to protect what is rapidly becoming a most important collection of material.

The Archive is also pleased to announce that it has gained three new members who join the team with immediate effect. Bob Armstrong, with a wealth of experience gained over twenty years as the Competitions Manager for both the British Racing and Sports Car Club and the British Racing Drivers’ Club will be a welcome addition with both his knowledge of, and contacts within, the sport.

The second new member, needing little introduction in the world of historic racing is Duncan Rabagliati, who is a practicing solicitor. Duncan is the Co-Founder of the Formula One Register and co-author of their many statistical “black books” , Founder of the Formula Junior Historic Racing Association and organizer of the FIA Lurani Trophy, Historian of the Five Hundred Owners Association, FIA Historic Registrar appointed by the MSA, Member of the FIA Historic Commission, Member of MSA Historic Committee, motoring writer, and active competitor in both Formula Junior and 500cc F3 racing

Finally stepping up to take on the role of Company Secretary is Anthony Goddard FCCA. In what he considers to be the real world, Anthony has a brewery on the Isle of Wight. He is treasurer of the Historic Sports Car Club, and races with them in the ex-Chris Amon Mk9 Merlyn F2 car, with which he is currently leading the HSCC’s Classic Racing Car Championship. He races in Historic Formula Ford with less success, and for a while was brave enough to race the ex-Sam Posey F5000 TS11 Surtees. His only claim to fame is that Mike Spence was his cousin.

Archive spokesman Martin Hadwen commented that with this new structure and new team members we are in very good shape to take the Archive forward. What we need now is for people within the sport, manufacturers, teams, drivers, clubs, trade associations, marshals, officials and the members of the public to get involved with us to create an Archive we can be justifiably proud of.
