Silverstone Classic evolves ...

as Motion Works UK is appointed as new organiser and promoter Silverstone Circuits Limited is delighted to confirm that it has  agreed terms to licence the organisation and promotion of the annual Silverstone Classic event to Motion Works UK Limited for the next five years (2008 – 2012 inclusive).

Motion Works will take over the responsibility for the organisation, management and promotion of the Silverstone Classic from Silverstone Circuits Ltd who, since 2005, have been promoting the event themselves.

Richard  Phillips,  Managing  Director  of  Silverstone  Circuits  Limited,  commented,  “Silverstone remains totally committed to the Silverstone Classic and will continue its interest in the event. We will also provide full backing to the special Steering Group that is being established.

The Silverstone Classic is one of the leading classic car events on the motor sport calendar and we are confident that the event will continue to go from strength to strength under the guidance of Motion Works UK Limited.” “This is a very exciting addition to our growing portfolio of motor sport events” said Roger Etcell, Managing Director of Motion Works UK Limited. “All the team are looking forward to working, on behalf  of  Silverstone  Circuits  and  the British Racing Drivers’ Club, towards further developing this important annual festival which celebrates motor sport through the decades at The Home of British Motor Racing.”

A  record  crowd  of  41,000  gathered  at  Silverstone  to  witness  a  feast  of  world  class  nostalgic motor racing at the 2007 Silverstone Classic which  featured twenty two races, spanning eight decades of motor sport and motoring, and covered an amazing variety of single-seater racing cars, sportscars and saloon cars. The  2008  Silverstone  Classic,  taking  place  on  25-26-27  July,  will  celebrate  60  years  of Silverstone, to mark the diamond anniversary of the circuit’s first ever meeting - the 1948 British Grand Prix. Motion  Works  UK  will  shortly  announce  their  plans  for  the  future  development  of  the event.
