The Masters Racing Series unveiled a major tie-up with the POWERnights race meetings during Race Retro, the International Historic Motor Sport Show, at Stoneleigh today (Friday 14 March).
Competitors from a number of the Masters Racing Series will be able to compete in each of the four POWERnights during the summer of 2008, as the unique series of Thursday evening race meetings continues to grow rapidly in terms of competitor and spectator support.
Each of the Silverstone events is a user-friendly race meeting developed for the modern lifestyle and includes a full day of testing for competitors, followed by qualifying and two sprint races during the evening.
The 2008 POWERnights dates and Masters categories are:
Thursday 8 May (Under 2-litre Gentleman Drivers)
Thursday 19 June (Gentleman Drivers and Cloth Cap)
Thursday 31 July (Touring 70s and Stars of the 70s)
Thursday 21 August (Top Hat Saloons and Oldies but Goldies)
The link with POWERnights makes Masters the only organiser of historic motor racing to fully embrace this bold new initiative to run mid-week evening racing and take the sport to a new audience.
"We fully support the concept of POWERnights and we think the events offer excellent value track time for our competitors," said Claire Tippet of the Masters Racing Series.
